December 2007. . . Back to News

Hank Sipe has been invited by South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond to serve on a committee to address legislative changes to the South Carolina Business Corporation Act (“SCBCA”). Among other things, the committee will compare the current SCBCA to the Model Business Corporation Act, as amended. The committee held its first inaugural meeting in Columbia, South Carolina on December 17, 2007.

Previously, in 2003-2004, Hank served at the invitation of the Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue on a Blue Ribbon Committee to update various corporate laws including the South Carolina Uniform Limited Liability Company Act. The efforts of that committee culminated in passage of legislation signed by the Governor on April 29, 2004 (Act No. 221).
